Brian Hanrahan, a former diplomatic and foreign correspondent for BBC News, has died at the age of 61 after a short battle against cancer. For such a man in such a job, the tributes are coming in. Two quotes caught my eye. Jon Williams, the BBC's Word New editor said, "He could always be relied on to find the right word at the right moment... and he was loved by the audience". And former war reporter Martin Bell also paid tribute to a "quiet, decent man" who was "very thorough and very good at his job". "I never heard an ill word said about Brian Hanrahan," he added. What more could one wish to be said about one on the day of our death.
