A Windmill in Old Brixton Town

I came across this about the windmill at Brixton. One of the last surviving windmills in London, it has been restored to its former glory. The BBC has a nice slide show depicting its progress.

The windmill has given its name to other places in Brixton. The Windmill Brixton is a venue nearby for bands to play. Not brass bands - more the rock and folk variety. Their website says "The grand old Ashby Mill (aka the Brixton Windmill) is reopening today and there’s a min-festival in the park. We’ve laid on six fine Brixton acts to entertain passers-by."

Makes a change from pole dancing with morris men!
