Obama's extreme pro-abortion views

Barack Obama comes across as a decent sort of guy. One who would be on the side of the weak and the least able to fend for themselves. But on the issue of abortion he does have some questions that need answering.

Now I'm not one to countenance attacking women who choose to have abortions. I think shouting in the streets outside clinics does the matter no good whatsoever. However, there are occasions when I think it right to find out what is happening and how. Terence Jeffery has posed certain thoughts in a column in Townhall.com, where he highlights the time when Obama was a state senator. Jeffery says of Obama "He is so pro-abortion he refused as an Illinois state senator to support legislation to protect babies who survived late-term abortions because he did not want to concede -- as he explained in a cold-blooded speech on the Illinois Senate floor -- that these babies, fully outside their mothers' wombs, with their hearts beating and lungs heaving, were in fact "persons." Pretty strong stuff, but it is a valid contribution I think because this is important.

Most abortions, whether we like the idea or not, are carried out without any "survival". But I think it is a wholly different matter to allow a baby to die just because he or she beat the odds and DOES survive.

It is a legitimate question to ask a presidential candidate if abortion-surviving babies are "persons" or not.
