A T4 graded tornado reaching a speed of 135mph ripped through Birmingham especially Kings Heath, Moseley, Balsall Heath and Sparkbrook. Homes and businesses were destroyed - many local people were probably uninsured. The famous Ladypool Road was closed for over a week. St Barnabas' church lost its roof and is closed pending repairs. St Agatha's suffered some roof damage and damage to the recently restored tower but is very much open for worship. If it hadn't been for the recent restoration the damage may have been much much worse. Unfortunately the neighbouring Ladypool School suffered even more damage.
